Quilt For Palestine (2024) #2

Through this square I wanted to convey my, our, solidarity with the Palestinian people – solidarity that echoes around the world. “Solidarity forever” is a phrase that comes out of the labor movement and is memorialized in Ralph Chapin’s song of the same title, which teaches us that unity is strength.

Our struggles are not the same, but they converge – and together we can fight for and build a world where everyone can live in dignity, free from settler colonial oppression, extraction, control, and violence. I included playful fabrics to remember and honor the tens of thousands of Palestinian children who have been horrifically slaughtered by Israel.

I included pride colors to cut through the pernicious lies that justify colonial violence as necessary for queer and trans safety. Pinkwashing never; solidarity forever – the struggle continues.
